Kanokla is proud to recognize Glenda Alexander as the recipient of this year’s Community Service Award, celebrating her lifelong dedication, quiet leadership, and unwavering service to Hardtner and the greater Barber County area.

For Glenda, community service isn't about a single act—it's about a lifetime of stepping up, showing up, and making things happen. Whether it's holding nearly every office in countless local organizations, lending a hand at community events, or organizing behind the scenes, Glenda has done it all—and then some.

A cornerstone of the Barber County Fair for decades, Glenda played a vital role in planning and operating the church kitchen. Year after year, she ensured it ran smoothly, with plenty of food, volunteers, and smiles—often while juggling her duties as a fair judge at the same time. Her knack for keeping everything running without a hitch has made her the go-to person for just about any event in the area. If something needs to be done, all it takes is one call, and Glenda shows up ready to work.

Born on July 19, 1946, Glenda was raised in Hardtner. Though she briefly lived elsewhere, she and her husband returned to raise their family in the town she loves. Glenda served in the Hardtner school office until the school’s closure and continued her service at the school in Kiowa. Alongside her work in education, she also ran a successful upholstery and alteration business, which remains a trusted destination for pageant and prom dress alterations for many local families.

With her ever-present smile and warm spirit, Glenda is a friend to all and a true embodiment of selfless service. Kanokla is honored to present her with the Community Service Award—a small recognition for someone whose impact has been anything but small.

Congratulations, Glenda, and thank you for everything you do.
