Your Kanokla Bill & USPS Changes

We’ve heard from more members who are receiving their paper Kanokla bills later than expected, primarily from Oklahoma. While we understand how frustrating that can be, we want to be clear that the delay is not due to changes in Kanokla’s billing or printing processes. It is happening once the Kanokla bills enter the U.S. Postal Service system.
Kanokla has not changed when or how bills are printed or mailed. Bills continue to be processed and sent on schedule. We process billing at the end of the month, and mail them out same or next day. Bills are due by the 15th, and if we do not receive your payment or payment arrangements have not been made, we disconnect service by the 26th each month.
Here’s a brief look at why rural areas are being impacted more and what you can do to avoid delays altogether.
Why Mail Is Slower in Rural Areas
Recent changes by the U.S. Postal Service have affected how mail moves through rural communities, especially in Oklahoma and parts of Kansas.
Key reasons include:
• Mail is now routed through centralized processing hubs (Texas), often farther away for Oklahoma mail
• Local mail may travel out of the region and back before delivery
• Some mail is held overnight at post offices as part of new pilot programs
• Rural routes are farther from processing centers, which adds time
• USPS has lowered on-time delivery targets for first-class mail
These changes mean mail can take longer to arrive, even if it is sent on time. This is why we offer several faster and more reliable options for receiving and paying your bill.
Faster Ways to Receive Your Kanokla Bill
Email Billing
• Delivered instantly when billing closes
• No waiting on the mail
• Easy to view, save, or print
Paper + Email Option
• Continue receiving a paper bill
• Also receive an email at the same time
• Helps ensure you never miss your bill
Flexible Ways to Pay Your Bill
We believe paying your bill should be simple and accessible, which is why we offer as many options as possible besides mailing a check.
Why Going Paperless Helps Everyone
When members choose email billing, it helps reduce:
• Paper and printing costs
• Postage expenses
• Administrative handling time
As a member-owned cooperative, these savings matter. Lower operating costs help Kanokla keep service rates as affordable as possible for the rural communities we serve.
Flexible Ways to Pay Your Bill
