Kanokla is a participating provider in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).  The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a U.S. government program run by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to help low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet.

You are likely eligible if your household’s income is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line, or if you or someone you live with currently receives a government benefit like SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant, or Free and Reduced-Price Lunch.

If your household is eligible, you could receive:

· Up to a $30/month discount on your internet service

· Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying Tribal lands

Go to https://www.affordableconnectivity.gov/ and click Apply Now to see if your household qualifies. Once you have qualified, call our offices with your qualification information.

Kanokla is also a participating provider in the Lifeline program in our cooperative area. Lifeline is a federal benefit that lowers the monthly cost of phone or internet service. Qualifying is the first step to getting your Lifeline Benefit. Visit checklifeline.org/lifeline to see if you qualify. Some requirements for this program are different than the ACP requirements. Qualifying households can participate in both programs.  If you are unsure if you are in our cooperative area, please contact our offices.

There are many reasons your internet could seem bogged down or slow. Here are some common culprits:

  • You may have too many devices that are eating up your bandwidth. Take a moment and count how many devices are currently connected to your home internet. An easy way to see this is using the Kanokla Wifi app with our Managed Network Service. Our app displays all connections on your network.
  • You are using a device too far away from your router. If you have a large home or are using wifi in your basement and your router is upstairs. It may be that your router is too far away to reach properly or something between your router and device is causing interference. Some common things in your home that could cause interference are  bluetooth devices,, baby monitors, walkie talkies, garage door openers, reinforced concrete, metal,  and microwaves.

Your devices may have outdated wifi technology or are malfunctioning. It’s possible for older devices on a network to slow things down for everyone else, even with a newer modem. Older computers, laptops, and mobile devices with slower processors could be the main cause of a slow connection. We recommend using our Kanokla router that uses the latest wifi technology and upgrading devices in when possible.

The best way to run a speed test is through your Kanokla Wifi app. If you do not have our Kanokla router and app, please visit: https://speedtest.kota.net/.

Power cycle the router by unplugging the power cord from the wall for 10 seconds. If the router doesn’t turn a solid green, call us. Do not hit the reset button.

We have two mobile apps. Kanokla Wifi is our Managed Network app that helps you control your home or business wifi.

Yes, it is called Kanokla Mobile. You can view and pay your bill, fill out a support ticket, enroll in autopay and more! Our second app is called Kanokla Wifi and it is for mobile app control of your home network.

If you are using our Kanokla router, check that you are connected to the 2.4 frequency in our mobile Kanokla Wifi app. If it is still not working consider adding in a wifi extender or mesh unit. When trying to use wifi in rooms farther from the router, the signal has to go through more walls and materials. We can make sure this is the right solution for you.
