John Ewy for 117th district

     Longtime Jetmore resident and mass communications professor at Dodge City Community College, John Ewy has filed to run for the 117th House District as a Republican candidate. Ewy says that although he has never held an elected position in government before he is excited for this new venture.

Kansas Genealogical Society to meet

Wright fire caused by discarded cigarette

     Ford County Fire and EMS has determined that a discarded cigarette started the fire near Wright over the weekend. The fire occurred on US 400 near mile marker 131, about seven miles east of Dodge.

DCCC prepares for opening of new residence hall

     For the first time since 1989, the Residence Life staff at Dodge City Community College is spending a busy summer completing two new tasks. First, incoming freshman and sophomore women are being assigned to a brand new hall. And second, male students are being assigned to Coleman-Webb hall for the first time in many years (previously an all women’s hall).

Prairie Schooners 4-H club

Kansas family of 6 killed in plane crash in Fla swamp
